how can i tell if a robot is actually picking up my home page or if there is an error in doing so?

From what I have been reading on the robots, you should be able to check your raw access logs and see if anyone has been hitting the robots.txt file. If they are hitting that, most likely they are hitting your sites other pages as well, provided you have not disallowed it.

im going mad here as cant find an answer anywhere my home page is not being updated by google, however the remainder of my site is? i had a look at yesterdays log files and all is correct and google looked at my index.asp? So why is it not being updated? The code is spot on, there is no funny business going on, so has anyone got any suggestions?

Steve: Do you have just index.asp, or an index.html as well?
Maybe one is being updated, and the other ignored as a result. That's a real hip-shot on my part. I have index.html only. Anyone else? -Larry
