I just added the robots.txt file to my public_html folder three days ago. Now I see Google and others have started to crawl the site, however it seems that Google hasnt crawled the other pages yet. How long does this take so I can start seeing the results in the search engines. I have re-done the site with proper HTML and added meta tags for keywords. I also validated the robots.txt file so I know that it is correct.

It depends on how many web sites link to you, if you only have a few backlinks don't expect to get fully spidered anytime soon. Try not to just get links to the homepage, but also to deeper web pages, this will make the spidering process much faster. Also it depends on where the links come from.

Even after all your web site is spidered don't expect that your going to get any traffic from the search engines so fast, you will be placed in the sandbox for a while on Google and you'll have to fight your way of the search results on all of the search engines.

Soory, but Meta tags are dead and have been for a very long time. If you want to get a good ranking go for links.

So what do you recommend to boost the search engine rankings?
