Once a meta tag is added to prevent robots from snatching images...how long before the changes take effect?

I added the <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> on my web pages - but yahoo image search still displays my copyright images.

Thank you for any help!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

Using the meta noindex tag will stop the bot from indexing your page content, which you may not want, but not neccessarily your image content, depending upon your link structure.

It'll take as long as it takes for the image bot to come back and crawl and attempt to re-index the site.

Depending upon the update cycle and your sites' popularity, you might wait anything up to six months for image bots.

Your best bet is to use robots.txt to ban the relevant bot, or all bots, from indexing your images folder.
