So which is the better approach to use for tracking visitors?

1. Javascript (like adwords uses), or

2. 1x1 pixel images (like Adminder and many other similar trackers use).

I thought the 1x1 pixel images were the most reliable; I am surprised that google is using javascript. Does anyone know why?

hi salsacrazy,

i can not tell you why google is using javascript (i don not even know, that they are doing or not), but i think it depends on your users profiles what works better:

if your users are all using useragents (browsers) that support javascript, it will work. if not, it will fail.

for images, all useragents should have cookies and/or referrer enabled that 1x1 is a working solution.
