Mr. Limpett is no longer with us.

He was the best part of the Andy Griffith show in my opinion. I still find that show funny, some great lines.

Hard not to cry over this one. I grew up watching reruns of Andy and Barney....and then Mr. Furley on Threes Company.

Blue footed, red crested, lake loon.

I use that and many other of his lines to this day.

I'm sad. :(

:-( Mt. Airy, which is not too far away from me, I am sure will pay tribute to "Barney Fife."

I remember The Amazing Mr. Limpett as a kid. I liked the movie.

If you don't know the movie:

Wimpy Barney Fife get his revenge as a Nazi-hating carp! After being transformed into a fish (that is certainly possible given the water quality around Staten Island), Don Knotts GOES BANANAS as a secret weapon for the US Navy, guiding the saviors of the world, the US of A, through enemy-mined waters and spots U-Boats, no doubt leading to the deaths of thousands of evil Nazis during the war. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scream in bloodlust as one-time Barney Fife finally pulls the trigger.

Did he shoot himself while taking his gun out of the holster after Andy gave him back his one bullet?

Glad to see his thread.

Out of all the comedians past and present, Don Knotts was my favorite and I found myself incorporating many of his jokes and routines in my own attempts to make others laugh. Really sad to see him go as it was Phil Hartmann and John Candy.

My favorite Andy Griffith show episode was when he bought the WW2 motorcycle with the sidecar.

He and Tim Conway were pure comedic genious when they got together for the Ample Dumpling Gang movies.

Sad to see him go. There will never be another Don Knotts.

God Bless Him.

There is the third. It is funny how famous people die in threes.

Darrin McGavin
Dennis Weaver (its breaking news at this moment)

I was a diehard Three's Company fan back in the day and he was almost as important to the show as John Ritter.

Not to mention he starred in a movie with one of the best titles ever;-) The Reluctant Astronaut
