We're Building The Titanic In Branson Missouri!

The World's Largest Titanic Museum Attraction is a unique 90 minute walk-through experience. Marvel at the giant ship built half scale to the Titanic's original size. A journey that begins when passengers board the ship through an iceberg at the waters edge.

Branson, Missouri (USA), home to the Best Female Yodeller in America, chocolate covered pickle, the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre, and now the Titanic!

I could understand it if Southampton, Belfast, New York or a port with even a tenuous connection were to embark on such an ambitious project, but a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from the sea and with no direct connection, historical or otherwise, with the Titanic. This just seems so peculiar! It's an increasingly strange world!

Could be the 7 million tourists that visit Branson each year.

Who would have believed that a casino way out in the desert would ever be the success that it has become today. One man, with a vision.

Anchors aweigh.

The London Bridge is in Arizona. A draw is a draw.

The Legislature & The Mafia? Perchance..?

Now, who would have believed that a commemoration (or is it a commercialisation) of a tragedy could take place so far away from the original event, so far away from sea..?

;-)

- Attracts over 7 million visitors per year.
- Boasts the #1 theme park in the world - Silver Dollar City.
- Has over 40 music theatres, 300 hotels, and 200 restaurants.
- Has more theatre seats than Broadway and Las Vegas combined.

I would say that's pretty good for a 'small town in the middle of nowhere.'

I live sort of close to Branson, MO. Lots of things to do there, a few theme parks, tons of live shows, great lakes (even fake beaches, and even fairly good public transportation... a rarity in the mid-west.

The town itself only has ~6,000 people, but gets many many tourists. It also has some great shopping areas.

...and how does that relate to the sinking of the Titanic, and the lives lost/saved?

It is, as you noted, a tourist attraction. One that is not so peculiar if your business happens to be tourism.

and how does that relate to the sinking of the Titanic

and the lives lost/saved
Sadly, nothing. I vaguely recall reading that the last survivor had passed. Perhaps these plans have been around for a while, on hold for reasons of sensitivity.
