Well, Ive been offered cash for my website but I see it as my baby, my creation more than just a website with a domain name.

Would you sell yours?

My answer? No.

If you had been offered enough money to make it mad not to sell, you would have sold.

<tongue in cheek>So lose the "my baby" nonsense ;)</tongue in cheek>

Funny you should mention this. I got an offer for one of my websites that I've really put my heart and sole into. I rejected it because I simply can't sell it, it feels like a baby.

While other sites I have wouldn't feel the same way at all. It's kind of weird how you get stuck to something like that.

Would you sell yours?

A) Cash coming in for sale of baby

OR

B) Cash going out for years for:
- food & lodging
- miscellaneous "loans"
- braces
- higher phone bills
- higher auto insurance once the kid gets a drivers license
- proms
- college tuition
- wedding

Not to mention:
- dirty diapers
- gray hair

No brainer! I recommened this as a SELL! :)

My baby grew up, and is having babies of her own.

Make me an offer on any of my sites and I bet I get let it go too. After all of the learning, hand-holding, hand-wringing, gut-wrentching updates, and more, I'm ready and quite possibly qualified to build another one.

Everything I have I would sell if given a really good offer. Well, except my real baby... and my dog... and vital organs... but pretty much everything else can be replaced.

How about the dogs vital organs then?

But seriously I would sell, it just depends on the price.

There were times when I'd have been very nearly willing to sell my real babies, but those were the times when no one else would want them either! :)

I had a semi-serious offer in the lower mid 6 figures that perked my interest once, but not enough to get serious in negotiating.

Now, if they had been standing there with their checkbook in hand it would have been a different matter I suspect.

If the price was right... yep :)

I don't think I could. If I got a offer, it would have to be at least 5 years of its current income for me to consider.

Weird,

But I still get that nasty feeling in the pit of my stomach when I let one of my (domain) babies go.

P.S. Apparently, you can write off the value of a webstie against taxes - so the pain is not that great.

I'd sell my favourite site for 7 years' worth. I would have trouble finding another niche that combines monetizability with personal interest; that's hard to let go of.
