Excel Connundrum

Lists question for an expert

How do you share lists across worksheet so they appear in a drop down box.

Easy to do within a worksheet but need to be able to share it accross hidden and protected sheets.

For instance I have a column of pets:

Weasel
Ocelot
Termite
Octopus
Ptarmigan

I can select a blank column of cells: data > validation > allow > lists

select the column of animals - then every time I click into the blank column a dropdown box will appear with a choice of animal (It will also not allow me to add anything else - perfect).

But I want the column of data to be provided in another worksheet that is hidden within the workbook

Anyone feeling bright?

Name the range that has the list and then refer to the name in the validation dialog box

for example:

=critters

[limbo]
