Curses! it is indeed a toaster - a 1920s reversible toaster [toaster.org] to be exact (back to the drawing board...)

What in the sam hill is a "reversible" toaster"?
You use the knobs on top of the doors to swing the bread around to toast both sides. I think the old electric that they have in the house here must have a reverse switch somewhere, but I can't find it. One side comes out golden toasty, the other side is just... bread.

This would be quite different from the un-toaster that you might have had in mind.

That must have been the shortest quiz in webmasterworld history

Actually, we had a 'one guesser' back in December, and I seem to recall that the very first GC went down with the first answer.
