Traffic to my site has increased slowly but surely since its inception, more than doubling from last year. Growth in Dec. 05 was phenomenal, percentage wise the best ever. But so far for the month of January, traffic is dropping enough to concern me. My AdSense daily budget isn't even being used up. This has never happened before.

Is this "typical" for January after the rush of the holidays? Last year January 05 was better than December 06.

Hi,

In general everything is quieter in the Northern Hemisphere in Jan/Feb IMHO. I try not to be out of work then, for example, since getting a new contract/client is very hard.

And my local dry-cleaner (when I lived in a poorer part of London) told me that so many people pawned their stuff (including suits) to buy Christmas stuff that they certainly weren't spending anything with him (or going anywhere) for a month or two!

So I don't see why the Web should be exempt, except possibly for areas like chat-rooms (and WW!) that offer some social interaction when people might otherwise be feeling cold, lonely and isolated.

Rgds

It depends on your topic but generally people use the net more in the "winter" than "summer". When the weather is nice people are outdoors more and that cuts into my traffic, especially when you write about motorcycles.

My efforts to add an alternate stylesheet for mobile devices hasn't yielded the results I had hoped for. That is ok, I guess accessing my site while riding your motorcycle could be hazardous to your health.
