I admit it: I enjoy being silly. You?

Sometimes in devious ways. What about you? You silly? You enjoy sillliness?

See, for example [webmasterworld.com...]

Receptional
(Quoting prior post): Changing ownership do not affect rankings, ever.

Well - the beauty of webmasterworld is that we all have different experiences. I disagree, but I could be wrong.

Webwork (Responding to Receptional's post)

Receptional is never wrong.

But I am sometimes.

Now that is an example of what I might call "devious silly". You might have to think just a little bit about what just happened. (At least I might. I'm slower than the average duck.)

I think lawman is silly big time, in a marvelously low key, sometimes nuanced way.

Sometimes silly is a nice break.

I think Monte Python was the bomb! (The greatest.)

I love to see serious people being silly. It's soooo human in my book to demonstrate a sense of playfulness, silliness, levity. I am a master of seriousness and ponderousness. I can be soooooo serious. Sometimes, my reason or excuse is "it goes with the job", but I know it doesn't have to be that way. To a degree it's just my nature. I'm a worrier. I'm a Virgo. Some days I am cranky. I'm all that stuff.

To offset that I do, I do, I do make an effort to keep my inner child vital.

So, I want to know: Who's silly here? Who prides themself on their capacity for being silly? Who enjoys silliness, even if you have trouble finding your own silly source?

I love silly and I'm proud to say I do!

Now, isn't that silly? :0)

I am silly too.

I love fixing people's horns, so I can tell them, "Beep Repaired!" Oh wait, that's punny.
If I find a dead cell phone, I like to scream, "Can you hear me now?" and slam it to the pavement! My employees' jaws dropped the first time I did that.
More than once I have taken a hapless pet chicken to the local chicken chain restaraunt drive-through. When they tell me the amount, I whip out the chicken and hold it out earnestly like I am going to pay with it. Great to bring a smile to an otherwise slavish unmirthful workplace!

From the nearby "Bad Monday" thread. My version of a bad Monday. If previously viewed use your TIVO to skip ahead:

Hey, I started my Monday by first stepping in a pile of dog poop in my slippers.

Then, a few hours later, I stepped in another pile of poop in my loafers.

They're all over the yard, little doggie landmines, hidden amongst the leaves. It's fall. We slow down our mine-sweeping when it gets cold. Also, seems all the neighbor's dogs like to visit our dog and leave her gifts. Popular gal. Senior matron of the neighborhood. Guess they're just paying their respects, right?

Now, should this experience - stepping in 2 piles of poop in 1 day - upset me?

Noooooooo.

Stepping in sh*t brings you good luck! So, stepping in it twice in one day means I'll be twice as lucky, if not more. :)

Be silly whilst silliness beckons.

It might just prolong the mood.

That's it Webwork...no Foo thread is officially Foo until someone introduces toilets, poop or chicken heads. That's the spirit!

Just to show how silly I am, I have the "Ministry of silly walk" as wallpaper...

Yeah, indeed, the first "Monty Python Flying Circus" are very silly. I love them so much that last time I went to Europe, I did all London to get some DVD of the serie. I have the SPAM BACON SPAM SPAM SPAM SAUSAGE SPAM SPAM sketch now! A must see for any webmaster.

Otherwise, I like watching silly things but try not to be silly in real life coz you never know how people will react.

Monty python! That show makes me laugh even now. The funniest I think is the 'Attack of the mutant killer sheep' sketch.

Sheep with Tommy guns. Mental.

The thread about the phone, is a touch like that comedy program with the guy walking down the street with a huge mobile phone and shouts into it. Cant recall the name.

Come Brits get your thinking hats on, has the catch Phrase 'are ou happy now' Dom Jolly is the main character.

Is there any other way ..

BTW if you ever get to see Louis de Funes ..
his best known stuff is the "Gendarmes at St Tropez" series ..( although I prefer the "nose" sketch ) in another of his movies ..you'll see where most of the silly routines in Python stuff got their inspiration ..

2nd BTW ..Webwork ..you are still leaving suntan oil ( or is it mayo?) marks all over my screen ..wash your hands ..

****
Geeez ..your ma was right about you ..no sense of responsibility ..no consideration for other peoeples property ...no ......

Silliness is fun.

Especially if, like me, you project a constant air of seriousness. Then, when you let go with some silly remark, people just stop and stare at you and wonder if you've suddenly lost your mind.

I agree that silliness is good. However I am always wary of people who tell other people that they are silly. Usually they only think they are silly and to others they appear to be trying to hard. (Like the office joker who keeps saying things like "I'm Mad Me" and is usually very predictable and deeply unfunny.)

To me silliness is something that you should do at all times, but you shouldn't tell people that you are being silly, if they can't work that out for themselves then you aren't being silly enough.

There is a silly side to everything, and nothing deserves to be treated seriously all the time.

I've always thought that I behaved as though I were the coolest, grooviest, hippest stud on the face of the planet. Now I find out that I'm perceived as silly. Bummer.
