At the moment I use Skype to chat and MSN Messenger for video when talking with friends, business partners etc overseas.

Does anyone know if any of the video services like MSN messenger plan to increase the resolution of their video?

It has been the same miserable low res for quite some time now and I would love to see much greater resolution even if I (users) would have to buy better webcams to be able to make use of it.

With broadband so widely available, I can't see speed being an issue, and MSN Messenger already offers a full screen option on its video but at the same low res.

I agree I think the video is pretty good, but with screen resolutions getter larger and larger (I am on 1,920 x 1,200) I would love to see higher res video available.

I realise that new webcams would have to be bought, but I would have imagined there would be a market for higher res video.

Was just wondering whether anyone had heard anything, as the current res has been the same for quite some time, and now that MSN allows Full Screen video it just makes sense to me.

I've heard people raving about WigiWigi for video, but I haven't found the time to try it out. A lot of people on the Skype forums have recommended this while they're waiting for video which is rumored to be included in the 1.5 version. It's supposed to be the fastest and highest quality app out there.
