Are there any Canadian members who can tell me a ball park figure for shipping via air mail etc to Europe ( France ) ..
I have a friend who would like to order some stuff for his business from a Canadian supplier ..however the quote he has been given per kilo ( around $57.00 US ) seems to be high ..it is more than he would pay them per kilo for the goods themselves..we wonder if he isn't being gouged on the freight by the supplier ) ..?

He has not said that this is the UPS or the Fed Ex rate or whatever so we assume he is quoting normal airmail parcel pricing ..

The items are not classified as dangerous so there shouldn't be any surcharges etc ..( they are clothing and badges) ..the rates given to him are not inclusive of any taxes either so they will be subject to another 30% here ...

I've never sourced in Canada myself when dealing with North America .. (only the US ) ...and these are very high compared with what I have paid from the US ...

Thanks in advance..; )

Try the Canada Post rate calculator here:

[canadapost.ca...]
(business rates)

[canadapost.ca...]
(standard rates)

Won't work for me ..tells me that the guy's post code ( copied and pasted from his own contact details on his website ) are invalid ...

He gives: letter,number,letter,hyphen,number,letter, number ...

system appears to think that is one unit too many ...quickly tried all perms ..

he's in Quebec area ..what should postcodes look like for Quebec ...?

Encyclo, you mean like this:
H0H 0H0

:).

OP, try DHL. I know a fellow who buys computers in the US, imports into Canada and ships to Africa. He assures me international shipping is cheaper from Canada. He's using DHL - and I know they go to England as I saw one of their trucks in the background during the news of the London bombings.

Also don't assume air mail is the cheapest. It likely isn't. And don't forget to add on some $'s for the headaches of filling out paperwork...plus duty perhaps.

Thanks guy's... this time...( with your advice ) it worked ..

I am presuming the prices that come back are in Canadian dollars ..even so they are high ..

I have a DHL account so I think that I'll get them to quote me based on my account price ..
he can square with me later ...

<wheel ..when you live in France the paper work involved to import something is like a gnat bite compared to what you already have to fill in in every day existence >...plus DHL as "transitaire" will do all of it for him /me ..

He wanted this stuff "hurry up fast" so air was the only way ..plus we usually pay more at this end to get stuff delivered that has come in by sea than if we want air freight ..except of course when it's container loads or groupage organised by the transitaire or freight company..

Thanks again for the help ..

It is Canada Post!

Anyways, Canada Post is only cheap for small light packages. At a certain point you might as well go with UPS or Fed Ex. The couriers are much faster.
