OK, so I'm finally dragged kicking and screaming into the last century and I pop for a laptop.

I surf around a bit and things look fine. So far, so good.

Then I go to my site and look at a few pages... YIKES!

My images look all washed out, like I brightened them about 5 steps too much. I mean these things look terrible on the laptop.

On my old CRT monitor they look fine. It's till set at the factory defaults.

I've seen my site on other peoples monitors and the images look fine.

Could the laptop just be cranked up so bright that the immages look bad?

I'm hesitant to change the settings without some idea about this.

Have you looked at it on another LCD monitor or just CRTs?

Ive noticed that in exactly the same way(on mac notebook and laptop); I was slightly gutted when I saw my site on a laptop.

I think its because the screen is a TFT, XGA and movable; u'll notice a difference if you tilt the screen / view laptop in dark room.

Allthough I guess they could be set naturally bright due to the different viewing angles offered..
