I had thought it a funny pic - now I think it's rather ironic. This GQ is just as flooded.

Refresh/reload Gizmo-Funnies to see.

It has been almost an hour and a half with only one guess.

It is a beautiful day and I am now logging off and going out to enjoy it.

Feel free to play. I will check back in later and at points over the weekend. This GQ will continue until we have a winner.

So there.

Does it have to do with hydrology?

Yes.

portable seismograph?

No.

Plus one more hint pic - refresh/reload Gizmo-Quiz.

Part of that question is correct. Part is not.

So ... which part is correct?
And ... supply rest of initial requirements ...

Reload/refresh for new hint and new funny.

Ooh, the quiz is still going on, thought I'd missed it. Just got back from dinner and looked into foo... a few searches later I found:

- correctly identify the Gizmo.

water level measuring system, this one: early analog to digital “punch” data recorder

- correctly describe it's purpose/use.

"These devices would literally punch a hole into a specially marked strip of paper every six minutes, recording the tidal level at that time. "

- provide an appropriate url.

NOAA url [nos.noaa.gov]

do I win the fluffy doll? ;)
