I know someone who was driving down that stretch of the 401 as it happened. Yes, it was a disaster but fortunately it didn't become a trajedy. Those flight attendants will probably get laudation for heroism.

latest revelation: the crash was not caused by a lightning strike or damage to the plane. it was pilot error.
