Best Ever Rock Act of All Time:
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Best track:
The Faith Healer

Best Current Band:
Frank Black and the Catholics
Best Track:
Blast Off

I agree with BeeDeeDubbleU, Duran Duran (and Dido) have nothing to do with rock music. I assume Essex Boy is "avin a laff".:-}

Dunno if it qualifies as rock:

Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacherman
The Temptations - Papa was a rolling stone

OK, the last one is definetly Soul, so let's take the Was-not-Was cover then. I'm a huuuuge fan of Papa was a rolling stone, and I have collected already more than 60 cover versions of it. Many RAP versions, a very beautiful Jazz version by Regina Carter, a Country(!) and a Cajun version, etc.

What else?

The Simple Minds - Belfast Child
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Skunk Anansie - Weep
Jerry Lee Lewis - Great balls of fire
Deep Purple - Child in time
Eric Clapton - White Room
Euryhtmics - Sweet Dreams
Fisher Z - Cruise Missiles
The Doors - Riders on the Storm
Yello - Bostich

Ok, we're talking about rock, right?

Dream On - Aerosmith
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
The Wait - Killing Joke (a two-fer because it's covered by Metallica in Garage Days Revisited)
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult (also covered by Lydia Lunch & JG Thirwell aka Foetus, which is a rocking version)
Kerosene - Big Black
Landlord's Lament - Scratch Acid
Anything (Viva!) - Foetus
Meathouse - Negative Trend
Generic Flipper (The Entire Album) - Flipper
Ever - Flipper (hehe, I'm cheating)

Special Mention
Love Removal Machine - The Cult

Special mention because the Cult at this time rocked really hard, but with lyrics like this:

Love removal love removal machine
You little soul shaker love removal machine
You little love removal machine
You little fun removal love removal machine

Love removal love removal machine
You little fun remover fun removal machine
You little love removal machine
You little soul shaker love removal machine

Look out here she comes
Look out here she comes
Look out here she comes

It takes a lot of mojo to make lyrics like that rock, and The Cult made it rock.

Any great rock song is measured by how many times the singer says "babe". Therefore Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is the all time best.

Purple Haze - Jimmi Hendrix

Ever came across that Frank Zappa song merging "Purple Haze" and "Sunshine of your love"? Crazy!

InAGaddaDaVida played on the radio a few weeks ago, so I "pumped up" the volume which earned me some strange looks from my wife.

I do see now that "Stairway to Heaven" was listed, so I take back the comment next to it.

P.S. Greatest chick rock band of all time: HEART.

If you're gonna list a Heart song then it has to be "Mistral Wind". I heard an interview once where Anne said this was her favorite of all their songs. I agreed.
