Well frankly, the first thing that showed up was obviously a Hawaiian wobble-doll for the credit impaired.

OK, I got past the damned pop-up ad with the hula doll. (what a CRAP site!)

The 2 white insulators and thickly insulated wires imply very high voltages, in the 1000s of volts.
I can't read the yellow sticker on the black box, but I guess it says something like "Don't try this at home."

The parabolic reflector indicates directional light reflection.

My guess is a commercial strobe light, the kind they used at dances and 'happenings' in the 1960s
before all the budding engineers burned out their grey matter on dope. -Larry

It does generate directional pulses with its parabolic reflector, but not light.

It generates high voltage in the 40,000 volt range and it pumps out out 45,000 amps also.

Watching Oceans 11 will help. Honest!

I don't watch movies. Saw the original Oceans-11 and got sick of Sinatra and his 'rat-pack'.

No light, 40 KV, huge instantaneous currents. ( any continuous current at that level could vaporize the device BTW)

That leaves me with ultraviolet or x-ray emissions. Hey , I'm good at this!

That leaves me with two highly unlikely guesses:

1) A long distance X-ray machine for dentists who don't want to relocate to Whackistan:

2) An instant tanning device for pop-up Hollywood stars and starlets who just landed a movie role.

I forgot something. Maybe its an imaginary (Hollywood) device used in the O-12 movie alluded to.

I didn't see the movie, so forgive another guess.

The crooks need a device to crack a safe, and this thing sees thru the metal.

It could also be something to stop your dog from trying to reproduce, but that's scary. -LH

Believe me its not imaginary. It probably a good reason why you would want to keep a well grounded metal case for your computer, rather than a plastic case.

Xray, gamma, radio, ultraviolet, dont know?. Its not the frequency of the emissions that matter (well it sort of does as you get more energy from shorter wavelenghts).
