First bike camping trip of the year soon. Used to make Turkish coffee in the morning. I saw one of those tiny espresso makers in a catalog. They look pretty small and will probably fit in the mess tin.

Anyone here tried one?

Héhéhé!

roscoepico, this is for bike camping. Wich calls for light and compact gear. I just cant carry along this plastic bazooka in a caulking gun, sorry. ;)

Here is the kind of gizmo [images.mec.ca] i have in mind.

It's supposed to pop an espresso in less than 2 minutes and weights about 200 grams.

This reminds me of the story about the Manhattan socialite who decided to climb Everest, lugging her precious espresso machine with her instead of accepting that traveling light is the best strategy (she nearly died in the process). Isn't the cold, bracing morning air supposed to wake you up better that synthetic caffiene high anyway?!

For me, camping is synonymous with boiling muddy river-water and roadkill meals in a tin can on a makeshift camp-fire. ;)

>>climb Everest, lugging her precious espresso machine

If I ever try to climb the Everest, I wont try it on a bike.

Yeah but the morning coffee kind of motivates me to #*$! in the woods.

Remember it's about bike camping here, where camping is a necessity to the enlightment of biking on the Route Verte [routeverte.com], all day. Camping is just for when you must stop riding, have a decent meal, fix yourself, watch a starry night, have fun, and then sleep in the wild. In the morning, we must have a good meal (with coffee), #*$! in the woods once, then wrap stuff up in order to ride again for the day.

If we had your roadkill meals boiled in muddy river-water diet, I suspect we would just spend the rest of the day #*$!ting in the woods.
