Message Too Old, No Replies

You know you're turning into a geek when...

A bit worrying really!

This morning I was reading something in which someone tried to "coax" something (as in 'gently persuade').

I inadvertently read (and pronounced) it as "co-ax" and wondered why it didn't make sense. I had to read it twice to get the meaning!

Hmmm...

Anyone else starting to display worrying geeky tendencies? :-)

Back in the days of Lotus I'd occassionally find myself trying to do a / (F)ile (R)etrieve (/FR) to get money out of the bank machine.

When I'm doing things such as carpentering and accidentally mis-cut something, an unhealthy yearning for a virtual undo button flashes through my mind.

I sometimes <put> wierd code in my text! knowing it
alt= 'I use computer language to express myself'.
<also> normal people get confused by my letters</also>
Or I make-up ancronyms when I'm too lazy to type something out fully. or use shorthand like img and alt in plain txt.
<!-- this is very confusing for non-geeks -->

you know yoo've been working on the web too long when you start referring to yourself as 'we'

I Often look for ctrl-z in life - especially when watching Everton :)

Go on the blues! by the way

I've posted some of this before, but I'll go ahead and participate here anyway... ;)

I once tried to slap my brother on the shoulder with my mouse cursor.

I mow the lawn around the edges first, working in toward the middle. The widening area of mowed grass always reminds me of the box model, with margins, padding and borders being added a little at a time. Go figure.

I had to put together a large mailing (postal mail) where each envelope got stuffed with a few slips of paper. In the monotony of the job, I found myself trying to figure out what kind of foreach loop I could write that would automate stuffing the envelopes.

And MS Word always seems like a WYSIWYG editor to me; I keep wishing I could just get under the hood and markup my letters in plain text! In fact I've had nightmares about what Word must be doing to my nice neat letter.

Do I qualify for geekdom? ;)
