Hacked!

How to find them?

A forum i moderate got seriously hacked last week. There is still someone on the board who claims to be a police officer. He had the balls to track my ip and phone me telling me to shut my site down or face arrest. I managed to get his ip address but now what?

Did you manage to get his phone number as well? If not I'd say first step is to talk to your phone company and get it.

He gave me a phone number but that doesn't appear to work.

I would check with your phone company and get the one that he called you with. Then go and report it to the police and see if they can help.

Block his IP and move on. It is too easy to let this kind of dispute consume you.

Unless, of course, you believe he represents a threat to your safety, in which case you should contact law enforcement. Short of that, ignore him, block him, and move on.
