Hi;
This probably won't mean anything much to the non-Australians here, but on Friday a company was fined by the Australian Communications Authority for sending spam to mobile phones. Apparently more than "200 companies have been told to change activities that did not comply" with the the Spam Act since it came into force 12 months ago.

I, for one, am glad to see the Australian Communications Authority is taking spam complaints (be they about SMS or email) seriously.

The Australian Consumers Association is currently lobbbying to expand the definition of spam to also include unwanted faxes and voice calls (currently in Australia only email and SMS is covered)

It's always nice to see the government crack down on spam, lets just hope it works and that other countries follow their example.
