I am not sure where to post this. I hope this is the right place.

I have had a Geocities site and accompanying Yahoo mail account for over 6 years. The other day, I received a Yahoo Messenger Message from someone with whom I had only interacted a couple of times and then blocked from e-mail I found them a bit bizarre. Out of curiosity to see if my suspicions were right I visited the site to see the content. When I went to the site, I received the message "You must log in to view page". Well I did that and there was hardly anything on the screen after that. I thought I had a glitch in my browser. The day after that, I couldn't get into my account. I contacted Yahoo and it seems that all the identifying information such as the secret question has been changed. Surely I am not the only person who has had this happen. Any suggestions?

I have no experiences with situations like this one, but it sounds like you have been caught with what they call "phishing". You should write to Yahoo and tell them everything that happened, exactly as it happened.

Do you have a copy of your website on your own computer? The cheaters may change your website completely if they have not already done.

hermosa, when dealing with Yahoo it helps if you give them the info they want in their format, and provide only relevant and accurate information. In other words it's useless to fire off a copyright infringement rant to yo-hoo@yahoo.com.. there is a specific form, and when used the response is what you might expect.

I looked around a bit on Geocities, and this is your best bet to get your problem resolved (assuming you are in the US): http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/security/cgi_feedback

You might want to browse their Account Security [help.yahoo.com] pages beforehand. Good luck.

Thank you. I have contacted them and I am waiting to hear back from them. Has anyone else run into this problem and been able to successfully rectify it?
