I hope it is not true. Munch's 'The Scream' and "Madonna" are quite exquist paintings.

I can see how there could be any incriminating evidence on them tho ..finger prints can be removed from paper and carton quite easily without damaging the substrata..
Usually at least 6 identical ..pre painted fakes would have already been sold through the undermarket to collectors of anything stolen ...after all who is going to complain to the police when they discover that the stolen picture they bought was fake ..
Bad investment for the unwary ..."artwork" ..if you don't get it direct from the artist themselves ..then you have no guarrantee that it's what it says ..even when you go through the big 2 auction houses ..
Experts in art are only as good as their reputations ( or more frequently their contacts or relatives ) which convinced someone to give them the job ..wether in auction houses or museums ..
The "stung" are too embarassed ( usually ) to tell ..the profit?..millions of $ ..
Stolen art market is #2 after the illegal drug trade ..worldwide ..illegal species trading is number 3 ...I think followed by people trading ...
