and here I am typing this at the stupendous dial-up rate of 40 kps...( and having to take my ex State Monopolistic ISP to court to get them to switch me to the competition and 512 kps ...here they call that dsl ...arrrrghhh! )..

Seem I am at the Internet's equivalent of the Third World. Commercial broadband (where commercial stands for class-c network + 24/7 support) is outrageous pricey over here.

We just switched to a 2.3 MBit fiber optic line (with bandwidth growth potential) and we pay some 400 EUR/month for it. Before that, we had a 1 MBit line which used the former state owned monopolists infrastructure and we paid about 700 EUR/month.
