Héhé!
Good to find people who can appreciate multiple level [abacus-referencement.com] humour, but I must be careful with my stupid jokes. Sometimes it can be over streched [abacus-referencement.com] to reach most, and sometimes it can be so crude it would be shocking [abacus-referencement.com]. This can put me in a thight spot [abacus-referencement.com]. I will try not to go too far [abacus-referencement.com].
1. How in the world did he manage to tilt it like that?
2. He couldn't have lifted it a little bit to get under it?
3. What is he thinking sitting under it?!
4. Why in the hell is he using something that makes sparks around the gas tank?!?!
1. How in the world did he manage to tilt it like that?
Probably using 2 regular jacks. When one is to it's max height, he use the other one on top of some shim.
2. He couldn't have lifted it a little bit to get under it?
An electric welder spits a generous spray of red hot molten metal beads all over the place. I guess laying on the ground with all those bouncing around could cause some slight discomfort.
3. What is he thinking sitting under it?!
Probably not much.
4. Why in the hell is he using something that makes sparks around the gas tank?!?!
I would not be surprised that it's the gas tank itself he's welding. :)
I guess laying on the ground with all those bouncing around could cause some slight discomfort.
An important addition to my question list:
5. Why not remove the tank and weld after it's been safely cleaned and in a controlled environment?
But, these are all questions which obviously escaped the man in the picture. If he didn't posess the brain power to figure out a safer way to work, I guess he's in the right place to be a potential subject of natural selection.
Some other people become milionaires dressing funny and jumping over 40 cars with a motorcycle in front of a crowd ; we call them heroes.
I guess if all idiots had an audience, they could live without brain power.

Where'd yah geet dat picture of me wedlin' mah gas tank? Darn thing wus leakin' so bad and the JB weld wasn't doin' the trick 'n darn duck tape wouldn't hold. Welded 'er riht up, 'n'ts guud 's new...
Ok ok.. no .. but I DID hold the fire extinguisher for an idio -- I mean 'mechanic' who worked in the same shop I did. He decided it was easiest to leave the tank in-car and since it had 3/4 of a tank, the tank wouldn't get hot enough to ignite the fumes (which are what catches fire, gasoline in it's liquid form is non-flamable, it just evaporates so quickly that ... well you know). All I remember were sparks, dripping flames, and me praying for "no boom, please.. no boom"... I lived. Went to an office job 2 months later.. lol
