I cannot believe they got away with this [rainbow.arch.scriptmania.com]. Were the 70's really that Naive?

The funniest thing I have seen in ages, bloomin histerical!

added: This is really funny if you are British, but you'll get a good laugh regardless

LOL :-) We've just sat and watched that in the office! :-)

Hilarious! I could just imagine watching it with a 4-year-old, where the plethora of double-entendres would go straight over his or her head... and the kid would be wondering why I was killing myself laughing!

Good one Limbo!

OMG, I probably sat and watched that with Alison Taylor at her house after playschool in 1979. Somebody at Thames must have had balls of steel to put that out.

That's just brilliant. I'll never be able to think of this classic kids programme in the same way ever again. Growing up, it was part of my life, and I was too young to know what was really going on...

Childhood memories shattered, lol!

I just seriously hurt myself laughing at the transcript of that show. Limbo, thanks a million for posting the link. By far the funniest thing I've read/seen all year.

Although it was hilarious, it was never actually part of the children's series...(sorry)

In 1978 the cast and crew of Rainbow made a special edition of Rainbow for ITV staff. This show featured plenty of sexual innuendo and although not shown at the time, it has since been aired for the amusement of those who grew up with the show.

Ignorance is bliss.

I rather liked the idea that they used to make them this way. I had my suspicions but really wanted it to be true. Oh well.

You Brits have some wacky TV.

Was that a popular show, back in the day?

With 3 year olds, yes, not with adults.

But according to that answers.com article, the episode we've just watched was not standard fare:

"In 1978 the cast and crew of Rainbow made a special edition of Rainbow for ITV staff. This show featured plenty of sexual innuendo and although not shown at the time, it has since been aired for the amusement of those who grew up with the show."

Yes it was never shown until a clips show IIRC aired sometime in the 90s I think.
