Yahoo! announced on Wednesday that it will increase its free e-mail storage capacity from 250 MB to 1 GB.

No, the last major change was a while back when the freebie 6 MB Y! email accounts went to 250 MB & paid accounts jumped to (I think) 2 GB.

Later, others such as hotmail and iwon and myway semi-sorta followed suit, with the former jumping to 250 MB and the others to 125 MB.

All changes seemed designed to blunt any reason to rush out in search of a 1 GB Gmail invite.
