However, for the last four to five months we've had to suffer this sound - in the guise of the 'crazy frog' - ever since some (now wealthy) bright spark thought it would make an ideal ring tone...
The 'frog' has spawned (!) much frustration and anger among normally civilised and peaceful communities; I have heard ads/jingles on commercial radio in which the 'frog' is shot - repeatedly. Normally sane individuals are on the brink; society at-large could be in danger of collapse (okay, maybe that's laying it on a bit thick)...
On the other hand, believe it or not, over the weekend I heard a radio-mixed rap track which incorporated the darling creatures' catchy call...
It is amazing how something like this can spread like a plague across the web and then leap, one would be tempted to say 'frog-like', from one technology platform to another..;-)

No it's not - the worse one was this morning, while taking a quiet coffee in Ottakers, this flaming moron had it on his phone just behind me. Made me spill my coffee!
For those interested, here, courtesy of the BBC, is the potted history of the 'Crazy Frog' [news.bbc.co.uk]...
Anyone have a recipe for frogs legs?
