Deserted Apache servers

I mean - where is the POINT?

When you set up an Apache server, it goes live with a test page saying basically that all is working ok. On this page it says:
This page is used to test the proper operation of the Apache Web server after it has been installed.

Don't ask me why, but I just did a Google search for that phrase. Guess what - over 2500 sites have set up their Apache and obviously never touched it again afterwards.

Why? Where is the point of setting up Apache and then forgetting about it?

It likely just means the lazy sloppy sysadmin forgot to uncomment:

#ServerName localhost

And so they went live with the webserver not knowing its name.
What else did they "not do"? Talk of hanging out a Hacker Party sign.

Looking for this one ( by any means ..WD's do it faster than you can via "G" ) is probably the best way like Iamlost says to find your way in somewhere ( always assuming "one" did such things that is )..that and PHP guestbooks ;)

The number of servers out there that are configured to "own me" is staggeringly usefull.
