It got me to wondering what on earth I did with all my time before I ever bought a computer for home use (8 years ago).
I used to spend LOADS of time doing:
1. Sewing. I was never off my sewing machine, making clothes, household items etc. I was really well-known for my individual creations and unique dress sense.
2. Writing to pen pals... and I mean WRITING, with a real pen. Not typing something up in Word.
3. Reading - going to the library. If I needed to look something up, I reached for an encyclopaedia or other reference book.
4. Doing calligraphy and other arts and crafts.
All these things have now gone out of the window (no pun intended) as I sit surfing the net, trying out new software, reading e-books instead of real ones, playing computer games, learning VB etc. I'm even sad enough to take my laptop with me on holiday.
How did YOU spend your time before you got the computer bug?
Ahhhh.... the innocence of youth. There WERE no computers (well, not PCs anyway) when I was 5 years old... or even 15.
I started work at 16 and all we had was punched cards! The PC in the home was a LONG way off...!
