There is a song that came with a soundtrack I just bought, and I was hoping that maybe someone might want to (pretty please) be my translator? My Italian-English dictionary does me no good! All the words aren’t translated to the intended meaning in the song. If anyone is interested in giving it a crack, I’ll put the lyrics up :0) Thanks to whoever might have a kind enough heart to help!

P.S. It’s a GREAT song! (I think ... *must remember to separate opinion from fact*)

<added>
AND... I meant AND in the TITLE! --- of all places to have a mistake that embarrassing! .. iikk.

Doesn't Babelfish do Italian?

BabelFish’s global network of translators can translate any type or size of document, including:

• Annual/quarterly reports
• Press releases
• Faxes
• Memos
• E-mails
• Legal documents
• Financial documents
• Technical manuals
• Newsletters
• Employee packages
• Marketing materials
• Medical documents
• Dental documents
• Aerospace documents
• Biotechnology documents
• Educational material

A little too professional for me... I just want a song translated for personal gratification. My business does not depend on it, therefor I am:

1) Willing to take the time to learn if I have to pay for it.

2) Just as happy listening to it in a language I can't understand.

I just thought I'd ask, so that maybe I know what I am listening to! :0)

Ahhh yes, the free translator, which gives me broken incomprehensible sentences. I did try a few of them. I have compared the results and tried to decipher the actual meanings, being you can’t literally translate word-for-word. For instance:

“It folds you to the rules of your market”

is a line in the song. It’s a song about love, and living. When I see this it’s telling me that I am conforming to some sort of rule, or boundary, but I have yet to figure out exactly what is meant by “market”. Maybe “lifestyle”? These are the types of things I wanted figured out. ;0)

Thanks for your replies though ... I really do appreciate you taking the time!

Understanding meaning: a basic challenge in AI technology that seems not to get much easier with brute force computing power available today.
I remember reading about translation programs that would translate russian to english and back, with often comical results. "Out of site, out of mind" came back as "Blind insanity"; the technical term "hydraulic ram" was rendered as "water goat."
I hope whatever mangled translations the free translators gave you served to enhance your enjoyment of the song, rather than ruin it. How do you even know that the song really isn't about markets etc? ;)
I guess now you're obligated to post the lyrics once you figured them out.

Zak,

Where are the lyrics? I know some Anglo-Italians and may be able to help - if I can contact them. No firm promises though.

Zak, a translation of sorts...

REALLY LIVE by Giorgia

This is the price that this world imposes on us
To live without any certainty
Poised in blue
Desperate lovers have never found pure love
Bending to the rules of your way
I regret, I take myself away from this sin
But when I breathe I realize that I am really living
And we are alone in the search for glory
mediocrity and dumb and without memory
But look at the summer and hope comes again
I beg you
Live, live , live, really (x2)
This is the price that
these times impose on us
We live a life quickly
A woman ate the fruit of sin
Now I would like a piece of cake
Bending to the rules of your party
No prejudices have ever been healed
Tell me what you do to sleep at night
Eluded and deluded from the sense of guilt
Forced from your distorted morals
But outside there really is a world of souls that have been saved
I beg you
Live, live, really live
(live) the sky above us
(live) We are the road
Really live
Live, live, really live (x2)
Feeling dancing
Get out more(x2)
Get out more
Live, live, really live
(live) the sky above us
(live) We are the road
Really live
Live, live really live (x6)
The good and the bad
The winners and the live
But there is not an ideal that is worth a war
Fight every little and big torment
And come outside and be rejoice in every moment
This is the price you pay...

I hope that this is close.
