I'm well and truely rooted in the Pro-Carb field next to potatoes and pasta trees.

Where does your allegiance fall? Low-carb or Pro-Carb?

I love carbs... but I also love exercise.

Exercise, what a wonderful idea.

What's all this about carbs? I thought it was all fuel injection these days?... ;)

I just eat. Meat, veg, fruit. Chips, cake, chocolate, whatever. Diets are all, without exception, both stupid and useless. Eat a variety of stuff, don't eat too much, walk about a bit and don't just sit in front of the screen, and just relax about it all - the stress of worrying about it is worse for you than the odd nibble of chocolate or a donut from time to time.

Exactamundo my man!

This is exactly why I asked the question. Surely the most healthy life style is one that contains a well balanced diet mixed with regular (not intensive) exercise. I visted California this summer, LA to be precise and you can go to a Mc-King-burger drive-thru and get a low carb versions (no bun - wrapped in lettuce!) and this is supposed to make you feel healthy? Unbelieveable! Why not walk to the local shop buy a healthy sandwich?

Is low-carb a relic from the atkins? aren't carbohydrates nutritional?

We are at the mercy of the media :(

Although, this Christmas when the supermarket shelves were emtied on New years day bankholidays the only breads left were low carb! refreshing

Well, that's why I said "unprocessed/wholegrain" carbs.. the stuff they process out to make fluffy white bread is where most of the nutritional value lies... That's why bags of white flour always say "enriched," because they have to add vitamins back in to give the stuff much of any nutritional value whatsoever.

Along the same lines as peeling a potato, making crisps out of it, and then arguing that potatoes have nutritional value, so it's OK to eat loads of crisps. ;)

Their is only five things you need to know about diets.

1) Eat Less
2) Exercise More
3) Eat Healthy (from all the food groups)
4) 1-2 lbs a week is considered healthy weight lost, do not exceed 2 lbs a week.

5) Fad Diet books are written to help authors make money, not to help people lose weight.
