How to decrypt MSDOS code?

A client of mine has found some MSDOS code that he want to decrypt, so it can be read. This was previously a Microsoft Works file. I am wondering if and how this can be done. Thanks!

Ugh. MSWorks produces absolute idiocy in files....

I used to have quasi-decent results with this sort of thing by opening it in an old version of WordPerfect (by that I mean that you could sort the usable info out of the machine garbage without having to opt for self-annihilation instead.) Fortunately, the only person who used to call me with this sort of rat's nest finally wised up and got rid of that sort of "one-eyed, one-legged, one-armed, half-brained man" stupidity....

I personally haven't used anything else. Unless what he's wanting "de-crypted" is something my morals preclude helping with (porn, child abuse of ANY sort, abuse of ANYONE of any age or gender, hate, terrorism, etc.) I'd be happy to give it a try, if you want to sticky me about it....
