It looks like laptops on your lap is not such a good idea, if you are male.

<semi-off topic>

For people who have cats, wouldn't keeping a cat on your lap for any period of time also hurt? (cats produce heat too)

I wonder how controled these experiments were? like how big was the sample (grins) of testee's (grins again).

I honestly cant take this seriously Its just another lets scare 'em story when things were a touch flacid (hahaha) in the newsroom. I bet a group of journilsits came together (!) and not being able to get anything else up (!) to arouse a response, whipped their big one out, except it isnt going to be the package we'd all hoped for. Load of b*ll's you ask me.

Ooooo Mrs!

Sorry in advance to the Mod.

During WWII my mother was on coastal surveillance duties. Young women were allowed to "man" the radar screens, but not men because of a fear that it would make men infertile.

If you really want to know how they carried out the research

[newscientist.com...]

Bring tears to your eyes reading that!

This news item got our Flemish Minister of Economy, Foreign Policy, and E-Government Patricia Ceysens in a tiff. She's been promoting laptop use vehemently, and De Standaard's parliament watchers have her saying 'that the survival of Flanders is at risk' because of this news item, and 'that the producers of laptops should be required to integrate a small pillow into laptops.' I'm getting watery-eyed here at the prospect of Flanders being saved by hundreds of thousands of small, integrated pillows.

What are two things that should remain far apart?
I'll take Stating the Obvious for 400.00 Alex :)

Sounds like that swedish scientist was laptop computing naked.

Laptops and being naked does not mix. For that matter having a lap cat while naked is not a good idea either, especially if it still has it claws :)

Well I'm female so I don't have that infertility worry, although I have burnt my leg on my lappy before now.

So I bought myself an iLap, en ergonomically designed laptop stand that is suitable for both your desk and your lap. Expensive at over 50 quid, but worth it in terms of comfort.
