Vindication about my complaints of a site.

My old Uni has a horrid site.

I've mentioned the fact several times to friends who work there (who have nothing to do with the site's design), and they get all defensive.

Just killing time at the end of a day, I decide to go take a look at the daily sucky at <snip><. (Partly to gloat once again in the thought that my sites may suck, but not THAT bad... you know how it is).

And what should be the featured sucky of the day?

My old Uni. WOOHOO!

Vindication!

A semi authority figure (well, a self apointed pontificating opinionated one), backs me up!

Oh, GLORIOUS DAY!

The e-mails are gonna be burnin up the bandwidth tonight..

And you, a superbly educated alumnus, have, of course, scheduled a doctoral quality site redesign presentation for the Chancellor, President, and Board of Governors detailing the transformation of a blot on the old alma mater logo to rave international acclaim for website excellence?

Heheh, I ain't that good.

Designing a better site look/layout would be simple. Doing the information architecture of a massive university site would be... challenging.

Putting up with endless rounds of decisions by committee, focus groups, strategic input from major donors, inter-faculty wars of dominance for better menu positioning of THEIR department and THEIR research projects...

Life is too short for that.

While we are here ..when you go to that link ..take the time to read the rest of the websites that suck site ..especially "google is god" ..Do the browser comparison...
I'm sure there would be a lot less" How come I'm not ranking in G "threads if more people did this ..even if he needs just a slight update ..

Actually, I've read that thread and a bunch of other threads on that site.

I can't say I agree with every word on it, but overall, it's very informative. 99.9% of the info he gives out is "common sense", but we all know how uncommon that is.

I didn't mean you personally grelmar when I said read the site ..heh hehhe ...

Just general heads up for some of the more whinging threads that start up ...never know whos in foo ..well actually yeah we do ..just us weird folks and mods with top secret "bookmarks" files ....;)
