Hooray for the Sox! The nicest thing on the radio was one of the players saying this one was for all the Red Sox greats of the last century that never made it - Ted Williams, Yaz, and many more.

Well done.

Congrats Sox! You guys deserved this and played like you wanted it.

Congratulations Red Sox.

But what exactly is the World Series? Something like the Champions League in European soccer?

No. It's more like the FA Cup Final. There's only one country involved.

Didn't the Toronto Blue Jays win the World Series once? Or am I thinking of something else?

They won once; I remember hearing how they came back from being however many runs down in the final game and wound up with a winning home run or something.

Sorry, I forgot about the Bluejays. Actually I am in Scotland and I know how the Canadians feel. I should have said that it's more like the Scottish Cup Final. That's what comes from years of being repressed by a larger next door neighbour :o)

Incidentally I was on America in business a few years ago and I went to Fenway park to watch the Red Sox play Seattle Mariners. I have never been so bored (or cold!) in my life. And I thought cricket was bad ...

BDW you've just eliminated your possibility of ever doing business in New England again... ;)

Until Rabbie Burns came along and taught everyone how to enjoy themselves again.
