Okay, as a former goth, (though for as much black as I wear, perhaps just a grown up one) I have to say, "duh! Why didn't I think of this."

Black is black: A new web site sells only black fashions

[internetretailer.com...]

So all of us geeks can look fasionable without trying to figure out what matches.

Hrmmm. At my age, I buy black because it seems to disguise the 25 pounds I gained the last two years working at my late employer....

So I'll be happy to see what they have. (Of course if they "purvey" only for the teen-Goth as exemplified on the tv ad for whichever laptop, I'll be WAAAYYYY out of luck!"

figure out what matches

In Jurrasic Park (the book) the mathematician said essentially the same thing to explain why all of his clothes were black.

I heard (could be true or not) that Einstein owned 7 identical suits. Never had to think a bit about what to wear. Also (again, may be true or not) kept written directions for which train to take home in the pocket of each jacket.

Apparently he had more important things on his mind. ;)

I heard that he never wore socks. "What good are socks?" he asked. "They only grow holes."

On the main topic, and the comment on the site that black clothes sell out first: I have an acquaintance who buys loud, bright colours (lots of orange) because no one ever buys these and they are therefore sold cheap at the end of the season.

buys loud, bright colours ... sold cheap at the end of the season.

Yes, but then you have to wear them. *shudder*

I find, if you want cheap clothes, thrift shops have a better selection. ;)

Black planet hanging over the highway!
Out of my mind's eye, out of my memory...
Black world... out of my mind.

Black makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier.

"I see a red door and" ...etc....
( if you guys only knew how hard I am respecting the tos and not publicising a couple of my sites here ;)

the only drawback to wearing black is/are scalp conditions

Another drawback, sunny days, it can get really hot if you are stuck in the sun with black clothes; I guess some cultures face that problem more then others.

Who was it that sings "I like it when it rains"?

Hmmm... Not into black, so much, but being a fashion nincompoop, I long ago learned to buy only earth toned clothes. Everything matches, never sticks out, offends no one at meetings, and when I'm too groggy in the morning to put together an outfit, I can just grab the first shirt, slacks, and socks that come to hand. And coffee stains blend right in.
