Is it just me or is there a law (this may only apply to the UK) that whenever anyone says the word "Intel" in an advert, they have to play the little Intel tune in the ad too?

How did Intel get this kind of law imposed? Maybe I could get a tune whenever someone says my name? :P

Probably part of the deal they struck with Intel to allow them to use their name in advertising, one of those "You can use our name but..." type of deals.

In Australia if you are a certified Intel reseller (meaning you buy the chips from an approved disti) you can use Intel's trademarks in advertising. Provided you follow their brand guidelines. Intel is a channel leveraged company - no channel, no sales. So it is in their best interest to ensure that resellers use their name in their own advertising.

We used to get co-op marketing funds for this. Autodesk and Microsoft worked in similar fashions.
