Part of it is motivation; swimming so frequently, sometimes it's difficult to maintain the enthusiasm. I still do 3-4 times a week but seem to be doing less in the pool.
The other part is level of fitness - just don't seem to be improving anymore.
The swim is very important to me and I really don't want to let people down, so, how can I regain my form?
TIA

Remember what it was like when you would just dive in and swim forever ... thinking about nothing in particular? You have to get back to that. Just enjoy the swim and that feeling you get when the water races past your ears and you are just trucking along.
Put on a pair of super long fins (like free divers wear) and have some fun just motoring through the water. I mean big honking fins!
They will help you improve your kick and your stroke at the same time. One tends to relax their arm stroke when the legs are providing most of the propulsion ... and that's usually what's needed to improve a stale or overworked stroke.
Stop thinking about it so much and swim for the love of the sport! I do as poften as I can and I use many diversions and little tools to help improve my stroke. Few 20 year olds can keep up with me and I am 30 years older than that ... give or take ;)
You are probably thinking about every stroke.
...I knew that this was it. That's exactly what I've been doing recently.
So, just come back from my normal lunchtime paddle and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Would quite happily have stayed and done more; was almost 'in the zone' - that mental place where you feel as if you can go on indefinitely - for the first time in a while.
Yup, stop thinking about it and just enjoy!
Good advice Liane, and very much appreciated!
Thanks
