What's on your desk?

A nice little distraction...

Due to all of my recent frustrations with stuff I want to start a fun thread to get my mind off of it...

What's on your desk?
I've got....

A Coke
A bunch of binders
Old 486 motherboards, RAM intact as a backdrop in my hutch
80's toys like Voltorn, Transformers, and the like
A fish tank with my fish and snails in it
A 21" Sony Monitor
Some speakers
A Laptop
Some files
Mics webmaster related books
A Lava Lamp
A webcam looking out my window (to share the view with my non-window having friends hehe)
Papers EVERYWHERE
A defunct Wireless AP
Misc writing utensils
a Found Magazine
My work phone, cell phone and their respective chargers
My PDA and cradle
and a bucket of leftover Halloween candy (Yes, it's still good haha)

Umm, besides the obvious, mouse/mousepad/monitor/speakers/powerstrip you mean?

A calculator.
A wooden box (formerly the home of 4 nice bottles of specialty balsamic vinegars and olive oils) which now holds some of my handwritten fiction that I'm planning to somehow put on disk eventually (because I CAN'T READ MY HANDWRITING 3 HOURS ON, much less 25 years later!)
A nice leather box with fun pens and markers in it.
A digicam in its dock.
A bottle of "Sally Hansen Teflon Tuff".
Webster's Dictionary, Roget's Thesaurus.
Remote indoor-outdoor thermometer/hygrometer.
Two taper candles in American Redware holders.
A terra-cotta angel wound about with wired gold-lamé ribbon.
A terra-cotta crouching cat figurine.
A small sandstone "piece" with interesting holes.
A small oak-ivy which isn't particularly happy with its current home.
A sandstone coaster currently supporting a nice glass of merlot.
A pair of 125 power reading glasses.
A pen.
Several scratch pads and sticky-note pads.
A pile of "to-do" stuff. Only 4 inches deep tonight instead of a foot.
Various program cds in the cubbyholes provided for same....

In no particular order:

Monitor
Computer Speakers (w/ sub-woofer)
Cable Modem
Router
Random un-sorted cds and floppies
Dilbert Tear-Page Calendar
A jar of "stimulating herbal balm" (I get wicked muscle cramps from an old injury)
3 coffee mugs (one in use)
Several empty smoke packs
Two partial smoke packs
1 full smoke pack
A half dozen lighters
(And no, I can't even smoke inside)
Web-Cam
Around 30 Kinder Surprise toys.

(not that I want to advertise Kinder Surpise, but those little chocco eggs with the neat toys you have to assemble inside, are my ultimate sanity tool. That, and frequent smoke breaks.)

Well, I am working at home at the moment and have moved my laptop into the living room, as it's nicer and there is a proper stereo in here. Therefore I am now at the dining table with:

laptop, mouse and new broadband modem
Four Placemats
Six Coasters
Small candelabra type thingy, with three candles (not lit)
mug of coffee
two old wine bottles being used as vases containing some lavender and another unidentified flower
diary
pile of post it notes and newspaper clippings

    er....no.

Would "loaned" be a better word?

Some libraries charge for the latest bestsellers. Like $2 for a week or something. It gives people a chance to get the newer books that the libraries ordinarily don't get. Of course, not in my neighborhood, because the illiterates voted against putting a library in. Yes, I'm still bitter. Oh, and I think the word you were looking for is "borrowed".

    Back on topic:

    Assorted computer odds 'n ends
    Mickey Mouse pen holder/cup
Large stack of papers that need sorting/shredding
One each, Las Vegas Wranglers & Toronto Maple Leafs hockey pucks
    Maple Leafs mini PT Cruiser
    McFarlane Tie Domi hockey figure
Bendable promo guy holding a coffee cup from the CoffeeFest convention, one hand up to block the tiny McFarlane puck
Tube of Anbesol, from when I had a toothache months ago
Dollar bill with www.wheresgeorge.com stamped on it that I keep meaning to track, then spend

Oh, and I think the word you were looking for is "borrowed"

Ah, yes. That sounds like it. 8 hours a day on the 'pooter is obviously causing me to lose my grasp on the english language.

the illiterates voted against putting a library in

That's bad. I'm sure we had another thread about this a while back? Luckily where I am they don't trust the general public to have a say in such matters ;)
