I wouldn't invite this Japenese guy [edition.cnn.com] at one of my BBQs...

I actually watched it live on ESPN. This guy is absolutely amazing. He definitely could have eaten more; the only thing that was holding him back is how fast a human can actually swallow. Competitive eating can be gross, but this guy makes it exciting (to me).

Just feed'em a couple of beer, then see how well he does. Of course, he might still clean you out of hotdogs before anyone else can get to one. :(

"Kobayashi, who was the favorite going into the race, also will receive a trophy and a year's supply of hot dogs"

A year's supply to that guy is gonna put that company out of business. If he ate that many a day to train and compete, that's over 18,000 hot dogs a year! Yikes!

heehee... Yep watched it live too. LOL. Made my 4th of July complete.

The guy doesn't just train with hot dogs though, he competes in eating contests all year round. If I remember correctly, the same guy won a contest by eating 17.7 pounds of cow brains in 6 minutes. hehehe

I believe I broke his record by eating tons of bull sh*t just assisting .gov meetings that should have last less than 6 minutes...

Do I win? ;)

We'd have to hold a hot-dog eating contest to settle it once and for all. Think you can eat more than 53 in 12 mins?

I dont think so. If I had only 12 minutes left to live, I primitively think of some better way to spend it...

Kobayashi, known as "The Tsunami," got to keep the yellow "Mustard Belt" awarded the champion. At 5'6, he weighs 132 lbs.
.........
Sonya Thomas of Alexandria, Va., came in third and broke both the women's world record and her own personal record with 32 hot dogs and buns. Thomas weighs 100 pounds.

Am I the only one to notice their (lack) of size?

Think of the percentage of hot dog weight to body weight ...

They must have ended up looking seven months pregnant ...

Short and skinny and eat all they want ... life can be so cruel.

No, I think everyone watching couldn't help but notice the two tiniest people there came in the top 3, while the 400+ pound American guys got left in the dust. The second place winner was taller than the other two, but still really thin.

The winner would periodically shimmy and jump up and down, presumably to help move the hot dogs along and make more room. ;)

eat all they want

Well, the winner said he goes two days without eating before a competition...

I'll assume you're not referring to taking a nap. ;)

I drink with a guy that goes by the name of "Hot Dog Dave." Dude loves hot dogs. Boiled, broiled, fried, it don't matter, the guy just loves hot dogs. He is lobbying hard for pickled weiners to be served along side the eggs at the local pub.

He wheezes and sweats profusely with the slightest bit of movement.

I love hotdogs, but it depends on which hotdog though.

If you're talking "American TopDogs" - Yes, but if it is Sausages on Sticks like the ones we eat here, Nope.

It is pretty amazing how much people can eat though. Well done to the guy.
