What software to use for tracking/managing

I've been using a proprietary accounting package (quickbooks clone) to manage both my accounting and to act as my customer database. I've now outgrown that and want to relegate my accounting package to just accounting.

I'm curious as to what products others are using to manage their client data. I'd like something opensource, linux based would be nice. I need to be able to manage client records, generate reports, select customer records/info based upon criteria, and generate invoices (which can then be posted to the accounting software).

I did some digging and CRM solutions seem to be way overkill for what I need - just something internal that my wife and I can use to manage this info.

What are people using for this? Any recommendations?

MySQL [mysql.com]

Open source, wide variety of platform support, incredibly customizable, very, VERY powerful database software.

Light enough to run on just about any PC, poweful enough to back-end Yahoo.

Free download for personal use, pro licenses offer more support, etc., just like any other open source project.

Thanks Grelmar. I'm actually looking for something to run overtop of Mysql preferably. Like webmin kind of thing, but something a bit less 'tech administrator' as well as something that will pump out some printable reports, like invoices.
