"it's" <> "its"

if content is important, then grammar is important

it's is a contraction for it is or it has, for example, It's about time we went to lunch (It is about time . . . ) or It's been a long time since saw her (It has been a long time . . .)

its means "belonging to it" -- for example, The dog chewed its bone (The bone belonging to it, the dog) or The nation honors its heros (The heros belonging to it, the nation).

That's all there is to it.

Hopefully I can learn how to spell here...always been a weak point of mine :(
