Ok, for everyone 'cepting bunltd, what is/was this [wwgizmo.bravehost.com] used for,

and for bunltd, the same question as above plus what was the name of the inventor's favourite cat's stuffed toy?

Are those "tubes" made of different materials?
Do they react differently to whatever is placed inside the gizmo?

Yes, both times.

You heat up the seven tubes

Only this part, yes.

I bet the name is on this page: [phrontistery.50megs.com...]
though there are no images to confirm :)

That's the laugh that I've been needing today :)

So, is it used to measure a particular property of a material? Density, conductivity, etc.?

Edit: spelling error

Does it measure electrical resistance? I don't see how, but have to ask

Is the type of thermal cunductivity meter where you put hot water in the pan, and then a glob of butter and a button on the end of each rod?

the rods are different amterials, have different condictivity, and the one with the highest thermal condicity drops the button first?

Ok, as I didn't ask for the specific page, JA gets it 'cos he said what it was first. Bunltd, do you mind playing bridesmaid next week?

Jordan, you've been around for a while but not a prolific poster - do you know what you've got yourself into? You now have to spend your free time this week trawling images looking for a photo you think will stump the masses, you have to remind yourself to post a reminder on Friday night, 24hrs before the main event, and you have to give up your Saturday night for a few hours humouring folk. You up for it? :) (it lends itself well to married, sad farts).

Thanks for the head's up 2oddSox, very thoughtful. I did know that though.

And I'll be out next sat, so bunltd is free to host it if avaliable.

Thanks for the great gizmo 2odd, I like it when my scientific background pays off. :)

if any ones wonders, this was the string I googled to find it:
water thermal instrument conductivity apparatus metal rod

As long as bunltd is hosting, she's not in the competition, so I didn't think people would mind. :)

I could host it. And if that I should's the general feeling I'll be happy to do it. I'd just rather not need to be looking for a phone jack where I can plug in while on vacation.

Oh, okay. I can do it, but it does take me out of the running for next week. :)

Are ya'll ganging up on me? First my cable connection is down pre-game, now this... a girl has gotta wonder... ;) LOL
