Not quite,

but after the recent abomnimation of a firewall courtesly packaged as Norton NIS 2004 Standard and Pro (which i have both), and the problems that i and other members here had, i'm glad to finally find an alternative!

I've been using Zonealarm Pro (firewall-enjoy its configurabilty) for a while for my laptop, but it is the first time that i have had the AV side away from either Norton or McAfee (had a nightmare with there latest security suite), so i am going to give ZoneLabs new product a good run for its money, and if it works on all fronts then i am going to eventually switch all my home office computers and probably look at doing the same with my works network at a later date.

Anyone else tried ZA security suite yet - any funny issues to tell?

I can get it free with my ISP service, wondering if it's worth paying to upgrade or if what's given is enough.

I am also interested.

My concerns:

  • uses the Computer Associates anti-virus engine which I had problems with in the past (why I went to Norton!). Have been considering getting the "without antivirus" version.
  • the antivirus is shut down when you turn off the firewall - unsure if that is only their antivirus or all anti-virus programs.
  • no antispam.

Might at least cause Norton to pull up their socks.

I'm using ZA (free, not pro); AVG; AdsGone (bought and paid for annual subscription for 5 machines); and AdAware (free version).

Never had a virus or worm. Don't expect to. But then, I don't do stuff guaranteed to get you either one.... besides the stuff I have installed, and the firewalls....
