Not too bad, except for the 16 penny nail that was jutting out from the fence post. Lacerated left forearm, 28 stitches. Nice permanent numb spot on my arm about 2 inches square that extends all the way down to right above my watch.
6 days ago, running a newly acquired Mustang into the trailer, the Mustang decides to kick, broken pinky. Second broken finger in less than 6 months.
Today, strolling through the back field, I feel something hit my right boot. Hard. Copperhead, hissing like mad, has its fangs hung up in my boot and jeans. A frantic tail yank and 3 shots later, dead copperhead. That was the third copperhead I've seen in the last two months so I call animal control. They come out and promptly write me a ticket for shooting a snake. Seems ya need a permit for that. But, for $175 per call, they'll come out and remove a copperhead, if it is trapped. Then they tell me to be on the watch for them this year. Seems they're quite plentiful and since I have horses, I need to be real careful.
Umm, yeah, that's why I shot the one that tried to bite me.
Been there done that - rattler not copperhead, barb wire not nail, etc etc ad infinitum ad nauseam.
Horses are wonderful animals. Assuming you live over them.... of course, when you're trying to haul a big ol' cow elk out over country where even an atv won't go, a horse is gold on 4 hooves....
BTW, the $175 is cheap compared to your life, coppers are NOTHING to mess with as I'm sure you know. [I called DWR about 10 years ago because a timber rattler was laired up under the house, curled around one of the deck supports, and of course they're protected.... took the agent 4 hours to get here and by then I'd just blown the *** away with a 20ga. I told the agent he'd slithered off.... *sigh*]
