I'm pent up. Pressure, pressure, pressure. I need to vent, cut lose. I'm always on my best behavior. It's killing me. I'd love to get crazy drunk and naked, but I'm a bit past that and besides, such behavior is not well received in suburbia, especially coming from middle-aged men. Boy, do I miss college life, when naked and crazy was within the norm, at least on weekends ;-(. I'm a bit edgy. Hit the right button and I might take you up on the offer to rumble. I need to cut loose. Do I howl at the moon? Drink to excess without consequence? (Only in the islands or in the Florida Keys.) I feel the need to drink Margueritas by the pitcher and dance like a crazed fool.

Do I hop on a jet to the Caribbean, hang at a resort, drink all night and gamle, sleep on the beach all day?

What do I do?

What do you do?

Somebody save me! I'm going nuts from being sober and responsible. Fly me away!

MAJOR question/consideration:

Are you "together" with someone? If so, then you have to do your thing within whatever is acceptable to your sigother.

Depending on the answer to that, I might have some options for you - mostly "what ifs" to get you thinking in other spaces, certainly NOTHING illegal, immoral (oops. might be fattening....)

[Edit: typos *sigh*]

I have a friend who moved to southeast asia and teaches english to pay the bills, he's pretty happy I think, but he likes that kind of traveling lifestyle.

I feel for your predicament, there are certain points you either decide to just cut loose or you don't, as vkaryl says, depends on if there are other people involved, or sometimes it doesn't depend, impossible to say.

I can think of some short term ways to get out of things, very good tequila in large amounts for example, but oh the next day....

Heh - tequila shooters are one way.... but (even though I could do said shooters FOREVER) that wasn't actually what I had in mind.

Sing really loudly.

It's a great way to let off steam without incurring a hangover.

Your middle aged? Hmm I pictured you around 29 years young.

And rumor has it that Webwork howels at the moon better then the best of them. ;)

I'm sure you have a friend somewhere that will lend you an ear. Sounds like you could use one right about now.

Step 1) Start at the base of Patagonia. Walk. By the time you reach Rio...

Step 2) Carnival.

Go the airport with the absolute minimum of luggage. (Just toothbrush and passport). Have a few drinks. Think money is no object. Have a few more. Before you get paralytic think up a random game to choose an airline desk. Keep thinking money is no object. Go to the airline desk, get into a conversation with the staff and come to a decision which flight you're going to buy. Make it somewhere really random. Be quite drunk by this point. (But not lary).

Have a few more drinks. Get on the plane. Keep drinking...

See where you wake up tomorrow morning!

What do I do?

I've always wanted to see North Korea. Get on a plane to Beijing, from there you can buy a tour to North Korea.

If I were you, which I'm not, really getting away from it all, backpacking in the wilderness, would be my first pick if I only had a week or two and wanted to keep the options I have available when I come back. The advantage to that is you can in fact bark at the moon, skinny dip in the river, everything you want to do. But you have to be far away from your car and other cars otherwise you never get relaxed.

Doing something with a friend, a good friend, would also be a good option, something that doesn't involve being around the same old, like a real road trip through mexico, not to resorts.

Those would be the legal options....

Whatever I did, I'd keep far away from any kind of technology, phones, pcs, anything.

>>sober and responsible

From what i know, they dont mix together that well with the human urge to delude excitement in this mundane world :-)

Webwork, you haven't struck me as the type (so, neither has anyone else...) but how about a week in the woods with 5 to 10 thousand hippies.. laying back in green fields all day, banging drums and dancing all night. There's a rainbow gathering somewhere out in the western US in another couple of weeks.

really getting away from it all

If you need a quick fix, and don't have a week or two, get on yer bike!

Ride for 3-4 hours to place you have never been. You can find refreshing countryside in most places if you ride for a just few hours. In the UK you can also find some very nice pubs..... Just be sure to get a train home ;)

Sky-diving, bungee-jumping - something like that could easily be an option if you've never done it before (even if you have) :).

Volunteer your time to the local homeless shelter, animal shelter, etc. This will make you feel good, and you'll realize how good you have it ;)

"PAINTBALL!"

LOL - my little brother runs one of the largest organized paintball teams in the northeast and just recently taught me how to shoot while on vacation to see him a few weeks ago. Good thing I'm good with computers ;-). But it was FUN - even though I was only shooting at targets. Unfortunately, I promised next time to take part in a real scrimage (what the heck was I thinking!?!?)

Volunteer to be a Big for a solid week. Be there every day, just to be there. Bring a pocket full of cash and a good pair of sneakers and spoil some kid who doesn't know a Dad from a drunken soldier.

It'll change your perspective.

I feel the need to do something crazy...

I feel a strong urge to be in Modoc N.F. in another week. Could be the sanest thing I've done in a year.
