For a good parental grin (or maybe remembrance of your youth), check out this item for sale on eBay (auction is already closed)

[cgi.ebay.com...]

Be sure to page down and read the full description!

john_k,

This gem is really worth the look, thank you!

I just have two comments to make about the seller :

Who is that guy storing an expensive bottle of Champagne "for a special occasion" in the fridge?
Who is that guy keeping any boose outside a safe with a 6'3" 13 years old Play Station addicted teen in the house?

Plus, I really appreciate the fact that this auction is closed.

hahahahahahah.

Mind, my folks wouldn't have sold of my stuff, I woulda just got a righteously deserved whuppin.

In these "politically correct" days, righteously deserved whuppins aren't allowed, so you end up with bratts like the 13 year old play-station junkie described in that auction.

Then again... given current cultural trends, selling his PS2 is probably a more effective punishment than a whuppin' would be anyhow. ;)

I agree with you mivox, but I suspect the seller 'lured' the game.

He is a poacher in my book. ;)

Any 13 year old should have enough sense to know that guzzling all of mom & dad's booze is not going to make the parents happy... For some reason, the kid didn't seem to think he needed to take his parents seriously. Maybe now that he's lost his PS2, he'll think twice next time.

Then again, I've long suspected that video game terminals havea negative effect on a child's IQ, so selling the PS2 may be the key to the problem in the first place. ;)

OK, we native French speakers tend to "tourne autour du pot" (beat around the bush) when expressing ideas.
As we try our best to translate to or from English we can sometimes do a rough job in the process.

Here is what I think of the seller. He can either be :

A - an honest moron, not deserving to be responsible of any kid, or any decent wine.
B - a fair marketing guy who got a few bucks more selling his garbage in candy coating.

What do you think?

Well, I think if there's any truth in the auction description, there's definitely an element of A at work... My first thought, after reading the auction was, "Why in the h@ll was your 13-year-old running around all night without adult supervision? What happened to hiring a babysitter when you wanted to go out? Skating rink!=adequate child care."

My second thought was, "By the age of 13, why doesn't your child know better than to get into your things and drink/break them? Who was asleep at the wheel when that toddler was learning whether or not he needed to listen to his parents?"

But, if the case is actually B, good for them! Make some money and give people a chuckle while you're at it... better way of earning a living than a lot of people online.

>few bucks more selling his garbage in candy coating. <

Yeah, my spidey sense is tingling. Still pretty funny though.

B- But to all you Anti Gaming naysayers out there let me say this. The day of The Movies will end eventually. Interactive entertainment is the next revolution. And be nice to your kids, they'll choose your retirement home. :P

I only had one thought: What barbarian opens a champagne bottle with a corkscrew? Don't kids get any education nowadays?

Sinner_G would keep a saber [sabreachampagne.com] around with such a barbarian in the house?

Ah ha! I think you hit on some good support for the idea that the entire thing was made up. I don't recall ever seeing a champaign cork that could be opened with a cork screw.

They mentioned the cork was broken, and part of it had been put back in the bottle with the metal cap back on.

What could have happened was that they broke the cork while trying to pull it out by hand, and without the top part they needed a corkscrew to get the rest of it out... Then they stuck the top part back partly into the bottle, with the metal cap on, because drunk kids will do stupid things to try to cover for themselves, and three 13 year olds would probably get drunk and stupid really easily.

Then again, maybe I should start buying random crap at garage sales, and making up funny stories to sell it on eBay...
