What is this position?

A major internet job ads site based in Australia is advertising for an "internet marketer" on their site (they want someone with at least 3 years experience.)

I found it confusing that they would put it in with the more technical roles that require the normal ASP and Java programming.

To me it sounds like the marketing department getting a bit carried away.

In my humble opinion, when it comes to technical jobs, most HR management services just dont know what they are talking about.

Does the ad mention you should make tea, walk the dog and play trumpet?

IMHO Internet Marketer is a marketer who focuses on all aspects of traffic generation and marketing in an online medium. i.e.

* Affilate Programs
* Banner Networks
* SEO
* P4P
* Gorillia Marketing

A wider scope than just a "pure" Search Engine Marketer (I think I may of just put an oxy moron in there being a PURE SEMer - is there such a thing?)

I would ask the agency or company for more details.

The job would probably include:

*SEO
*PPC
*HTML
*Database knowledge
*Graphic design
*Knowledge of log files and log analysers

that's the truth. A couple years ago my friend showed me an ad for a mid level type programming position. The add called for at LEAST 20 years Internet experience :)

The agency involved is one of the top 3 Internet Job Ad websites in the country so I doubt whether there would be more than a handful of people in the country that could fill the position.
